Solid release : new models integration


The new Solid release planned for March provide a highlight on two phenomena.


Grains impact on the casting processes

 

Solid software

The new Solid released is a major software evolution as it embeds heavy development of mechanical model, for ingots casting and continuous casting.

The main evolution lays down on the integration of the Nicolas Leriche's thesis works.

Solid holds a model for predicting the grains size evolution of the alloys, during the casting. With the new development, the columnar structures growth is coupled with the equiaxed grains one. As a result, it predicts the equiaxed columnar transition and columnar equiaxe transition.

 

Porosity model

 

Solid software

The second embedded model deals with the PRINCIPIA project development (an ANR MATETPRO project). It promotes new aluminium-copper-lithium alloys. However, those alloys are sensitive to the porosity phenomenom.

To take into account this phenomenom in the simulation, the thesis work of Laurent HEYVAERT are integrated in the new Solid software version. The model is thus aimed at predicting the porosity evolution at the product scale.

 

Solid Club

Solid software for casting issues

As a warning, the Solid Club is in preparation. It consists in a meeting with all the partners and customers for presenting the last Solid version. The Solid Club also proposes a practical training for introducing the new models use and results.
