Twin Screw Course : Pharma Edition

The TSC (Twin Screw Course) has been designed for solving industrial issues with the simulation of the twin screw process.

In the pharma industry, the HME process is more and more used with corotating twin screw extruder. The main keypoints are about the few amount of API, its sensitivity to shear and temperature and the lock of the scale up.

The TSC explains how numerical simulation of HME is efficient for

• screening experimental plans
• bypassing the "tests and errors" method
• saving API and blends
• capitalizing on knowledge about the process mechanisms/material behaviour

For helping people who are dealing with the HME processes (formulation issues, screw design, process performance optimization..., the TSC proposes a theoretical and practical training on one day, for undertaking the material flow behaviour, the process mechanisms and looking for solutions for increasing the process performance. Are included in the TSC :

• Reminders about the process mechanisms
• Reminders about the material viscosity
• Practical about the scale up on the Ludovic software
• Two month license of the Ludovic software (for Gold package), dedicated to corotating twin screw extruder

The TSC is aimed at R&D and process engineers who are interested in the twin screw process. All the people involved in the material, products and complex formulations find in the TSC reading key for improving the process and the product quality.

The TSC teaches about the extrusion mechanisms and principles. You will learn about the mechanics, physics and rheology rules which occur all along the process. It is also a unique way to learn which characteristics, results and data are really relevant for the material and its evolution. As a complementary lesson, the Ludovic software training helps in making a concrete relationship between the measurements performed on the extruders and the results simulated by Ludovic.
